An affordable vetiver: the benefits of Vetiveryl Acetate

From the Vetiver family, Vetiveryl Acetate is a derivative that takes all the best features from the natural essential oil in terms of odour, longevity and usability.  It is described as smoother and more “velvet” with a sweet, fresh note (minus the smoky notes present in the natural oil).

Zanos offers this semi-natural which is a complex mixture obtained by the acetylation of Haitian Vetiver oil followed by a fractionation. First, Vetiver oil is made by steam distilling vetiver roots.  The major component of this oil is Vetiverol (about 50%) which is then isolated.  It is this Vetiverol which is acetylated to produce the pale yellow-brown viscous liquid known as Vetiveryl Acetate.  Therefore, the product is also known as Vetiverol or Vetivert Acetate.  No additives, preservatives or antioxidants are added to the quality offered by Zanos.

Used as a woody, earthy base note in perfumery, its olfactive feature is tenacious and long-lasting (think Guerlain’s Vetiver which contains a good amount of Vetiveryl Acetate in its original formula).  As such, a little goes a long way for this calming scent.  In aromatherapy, it helps people with anxiety to unwind or de-stress.  Alternatively, inhaling vetiver oil also causes your brain to feel more awake.  A sniff of this green smelling ingredient improves alertness and helps when focusing on a task.  It has also been used in aromatherapy as a treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Vetiveryl Acetate performs well in alcoholic perfumes, liquid detergents, fabric softeners, candles, soaps (tablet and liquid) and other personal care items such as shampoos and conditioners.

Zanos sources this fresh hybrid ingredient as well as 100% natural and organic ingredients from our trusted suppliers.  We have also been trading in competitively-priced aroma chemicals for nearly 20 years.
