It’s harvest season for Egyptian Geranium Oil

July is finally here and that means it’s time to harvest one of the most popular aromatic ingredients of the season: Egyptian Geranium Oil.

As an important floral component, Geranium Oil is widely used in fragrances, cosmetics, and household items for its sweet, fresh, rosy scent with minty undertones.

Its balancing attributes and anti-septic properties makes this essential oil even more valuable and versatile when used in aromatherapy, herbal medicine, and pharmacy – alleviating feelings of anxiety, tension, fatigue and stress.

Ancient Origins

The ancient Egyptians themselves realised its potential for healing, cleansing, and promoting smooth, radiant skin in association with their cultural importance for personal hygiene.

Today, Fridal (a key supplier for Zanos) is one of the biggest producers and exporters of Geranium Oil, alongside other fine, natural essential oils and fragrant ingredients.

Method of extraction

Egyptian Geranium Oil is distilled from the leaves, stalks and flowers of a perennial shrub known as Pelargonium graveolens. The oil itself is pale yellow and possesses an incredibly strong herbaceous smell – ideal for warding off mosquitoes when used for insect repellent!

Benefits and applications

According to a recent essential oils marketing report conducted by Grand View Research, the increasing demand for essential oils is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.5% from 2020 to 2027; driven by demand from major end-user industries such as food, beverage, personal care and relaxation.

Egyptian Geranium Oil caters to most of these sectors and no doubt the demand for it will equally spike over the coming months.

To further highlight its medicinal and therapeutic applications, it can also help to soothe symptoms of menopause and menstruation, boost immunity and improve circulation when working as an antiseptic agent.

Cosmetically, it can be used in massage and facial oils to help rejuvenate the youthful appearance of skin and diminish signs of ageing by tightening the skin.

Plus, when used correctly in small amounts, the oil is sometimes infused with baked goods like cake or bread for a delicate flavour.

Overall, this well-rounded essential oil has a broad range of benefits and applications, making it one of the most popular aroma ingredients known to man for all kinds of products.

Zanos supplies a whole range of natural fragrance ingredients and speciality chemicals, including Geranium Oil Egypt.
