We are proud to celebrate 20 years since the company started operations back on the 1st July 2000, during which time the business has developed and evolved considerably.
The nature of our business has changed over the years, from being a one-man band consultancy to a distribution company representing several prestigious principals with activities in over 15 countries.
The main focus has always been on flavour and fragrance ingredients for the UK and EU markets, but a significant proportion of the business is involved with speciality chemicals.
A close-knit, flexible team of five works together to maintain and develop the business, identifying new customer and product opportunities whilst looking after existing customers. Some of these relationships were established even before the start of the company more than 20 years ago thanks to the prior career of its Director, Julian Sarkar.
In recent years, the industry has seen smaller compounders being acquired by larger, in many cases, global flavour and fragrance organisations with centralised operations. Zanos has continued to maintain and develop business relationships based on the diversity of products in our portfolio. Customers have been and gone, some unfortunately going bankrupt, others being acquired and absorbed into larger organisations, but the fundamentals remain.
Julian reflects, “There have been a number of ups and downs along a winding and sometimes unpredictable road. The path has not always been clear, but I’ve made some good friends and had some fun on the way. “
Despite the global impact of Covid-19, the Zanos team has remained fully operational throughout. Zanos remains focused on providing a reliable, prompt, and flexible service, facing the challenge of Brexit by working closely with the companies we represent to continue business growth and to look towards the next 20 years.
